Dr. Roger Achkar is an engineer and social scientist, with academic credentials from esteemed institutions such as Harvard, Leicester, Cranfield, and CentraleSupélec. His interests revolve around social science research’s role in understanding and addressing the challenges and impacts of renewable and efficient energy systems, sustainable energy transition, and climate change. At present, Dr. Achkar holds the position of General Manager at a company specializing in engine-based and Solar PV power plant contracting, and EV trading. He also serves as the Director General of GWCN, a UK-based organization that stands as the world’s largest environmental and energy network, boasting over 2,000 member organizations across 187 countries. With numerous years of experience at the senior and managerial level in MNCs and energy service companies in the MEA region, Dr. Achkar brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his roles. His accomplishments extend beyond his professional career, as he is also an award-winning author and has been recognized for his contributions to public service.
